A Thief Makes Another Appearance

That is what the high school student t-shirts read... and it couldn't have been more true today. In a game in which the offense couldn't make anything happen, the Freshman defense was able to save the game (quite literally). The "D" was raging in the second half... forcing stops during crucial downs and not allowing their opponents to have too good of field position. Though nobody played a truly perfect game, they were able to pull out another win to stand at 4-1 for the season thus far. Here are some photographic highlights of the nail-biter game.

So the title of this post... "Thief"... not to say Dalton is one. But he sure is getting good at taking the ball away and running towards his endzone with it! The final score today.... 7-6. So, as you can guess, Tony and I are EXTREMELY proud of Dalton for choosing today to be his third successful "strip and score".

Sopho... WhO?!

Sophocles once said that children are "anchors that hold a mother to life". Have you ever found yourself getting excited (or even fearful) about what your child will do next? It becomes a piece of life that defines a parent... especially a mother. I often find myself thinking about how much of a compliment my children really are to my own life. I would truly be lost without each one of our crew of four around. Each child adds a unique perspective to life, and to me. It is amazing how much time each day I can spend on something directly related to at least one child in our house. And, after a four-day weekend (or beginning) that pretty much revolved around the younger four members of our household... Sophocles' statement cannot ring more true for us.

So, you might ask... what did we do?

Created a design for custom football T's for the girls. And they arrived on Saturday, just in time to wear to Dalton's first home game of the season yesterday :-)

And we went to the State Fair... mainly so some girls could see their favorite "guy band" Big Time Rush (or BTR as the 3-yr-old so nicely corrected me!!!). This was Bethanie's first state fair, so it was great to witness all of her "firsts" there... like the carnival kiddie rides, animal exhibits, etc.

My goals in life are simple... to lead a good example, to do what is morally right, to guide my children in the way of God and their own success, and to leave my mark on the world through those I have provided a strong, positive example and guidance to. That is why I became a nurse... and why I so thoroughly enjoy being a mother. No amount of riches or social hierarchy can be more rewarding in my lifetime. I'm so glad that I can take time (like the past few days) to devote towards the future... our children.
