On Cloud Nine...

That's about the only way to express Tony and the boys when they got home from KC last night... they were all three walking on cloud nine. Devin- because KU won the Big XII Tournament Title and ran into former Jayhawk Wayne Simien (literally). Tony & Dalton- because they got to watch some good basketball, eat well and visit with Darren Sproles. (For those of you who don't know who that is... Darren played football at K-State before being drafted for the NFL by San Diego and experienced his best pro career playing year in 2009). I think they were more impressed with who they talked to and saw then the outcome of any game:)

In other news:

Emmalie has seven sight words down from her reading practice and tested extremely high on her last preschool "readiness exam" that they give to those moving to start Kindergarten next year. We have our first meeting at the grade school in a little over a week to start the enrollment process... WOW!

Bethanie went all of last week with only two accidents at daycare! By the time the summer roles around, we should be ready to move her to true panties entirely... meaning SAVINGS:) Bethie is mocking everything her sister does. Needless to say, that means that our 2-yr-old has the phrase "are you trying to make me cry?" down to a tee.. UGH!

This time change is killin' me today... so I'm cutting this post short. Spring Break is this week so I'm sure there will be something to add soon. Until then, here is my favorite line so far from the B***H book that I'm reading.

Integrity, decisiveness, and courage-
courage to take risks, to make a change, and even to fail.

All in the name of FUN!

What a great time the girls and I had this past weekend. Besides the rather wonderful weather in the area, we had playground time -- shopping time -- and, on Saturday, a trip to see Sesame Street Live with Grandma Sharon! The girls had a great time and haven't stopped talking about "watching Elmo with Grandma":) Tomorrow Emmalie will go to see "Pinkalicious" as part of her first of many school field trips. (She is sooooo excited... but the poor little boys in her class probably aren't so happy!).

Since Mom and the girls have had time to play and enjoy ourselves, it was only fair to let Dad and the boys have their time too. So Tony, Devin and Dalton are in Kansas City (along with my Dad and uncle Bob) taking in the city and Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament. Good thing KU and KSU played well today!

To share some fun and smiles... here is a little video of photos from our trip to the arena last weekend. The place has confortable seats and a pretty good layout. It's smaller than I would have thought... and TOO COLD! But clean:) Enjoy...

Hope everyone has a wonderful start to their weekend. I'll try to share some wonderful words of female wisdom from me book in the next post.... you gals will love it;)

Another Hotel Room

Okay... so I'm on yet another overnight business trip. And I'll be on another one every week for the next month or so. It really isn't all that bad, right?! During the rather long road trip this evening I started to think about the pros and cons of these trips. Here's what I came up with...

Five reasons I HATE being on an overnight trip away from home.
  1. Hotel beds stink! No matter how many pillows they give you, it doesn't make up for the hard mattress.
  2. There is nobody to help with homework. (I secretly live for Devin and Dalton to ask for my help... you know, teenagers only THINK they know everything!).
  3. No little girls are around to brush... or, more acurately, PULL my hair! Emmalie and Bethanie don't appear to be heading towards hairdressing as a profession at their current rate!
  4. There is no Tony around to keep me sane with conversation.
  5. Since I'm away "on business"... work follows me! (I can shut it off at home, at least temporarily!).

Five reasons I LIKE being on an overnight trip away from home.
  1. There is nobody asking every 15-minutes "what can I have for a snack"!
  2. No little girls suddenly walk up to my bed and smack me across the face to tell me they want something to drink.
  3. I get the TV all to myself...:) No Wonder Pets, Hannah Montana or Back Yardigans!
  4. I only have one set of toe nails and finger nails to paint instead of three.
  5. I can actually read a book to myself. (Though the bunny book is a good one, too!).

Speaking of reading books:0 I have a new one that I've just started reading. It has quite the catchy little title... "the girl's guide to being a boss without being a *****". It's really a good (and funny) book!

So... what are all of you reading?! Please share as I know many of us are always interested in a new book to read! I can't wait to see everyone's responses. (If you aren't reading anything now, comment with the last book you have read).

Hope everyone is having a great start to the new month!
