Randomness...:)

Tony is home... life is busy... work will be even busier this week (for us both)... and there are three birthdays coming up in our house over the next 10 days. At least we've had a little time for some fun and excitement in the past week.

And 48 Hours Later....

Well, we have survived another 48 hours of the week. And I can speak for every member of the household (the dog included) when I say that we are all ready for Tony to get home :)

We have kept ourselves busy over the past two days with walks, baseball practice, trips to the playground, doing pedicures, and preparing for upcoming events (birthday parties, regional baseball tournament and "Jack and the Bean Stock" live at the crown tomorrow). It has been plenty to take our minds away from Tony's absence... for the short-term, that is.

As you can tell, not a whole lot has happened this week. Although, I did have a second moment occur that made me want to hide in the corner today ;0 Bethanie's teacher (Miss Mandy) was telling me what a "big girl" Bethie is and how she has adjusted better to the three-year-old room than any other two-year-old has. So I stood there smiling, thinking to myself... "Yeah! That's our baby girl! Such a pleasant, wonderful and intelligent child!" (I know. I was too proud and thought too soon...). Because then Mandy proceeded to tell me about Bethanie's conversation with her classmate Allyson today. Apparently, Allyson (6-months older than Bethie) has not taken well to potty training and is literally bulking at the idea all around. Yesterday, Allyson had to "cut" in front of Bethanie in the bathroom line ALL day because of frequent accidents. Well... today started off the SAME way. And Bethanie, like her dear Mother, couldn't keep her mouth shut any more! Mandy said Bethanie looked at Allyson and said...

"Allyson, you not a baby. Do you need to go back to the baby room?!"

How do you respond to that one? I was just glad to hear that Bethanie didn't make Allyson cry over her comments. Tony and I are going to have to watch out. We may end up with a little bully girl on our hands. She looks so innocent, but don't let that fool you.

That is about the most excitement we've experienced without the HMFIC of the house around. I'll close with some pictures of our playground outing and a message from the girls to their Daddy!

The FIRST 24-Hours

The first 24-hours have past since Tony left on his business trip. And the remaining six of us (yes, Fallon included) are managing to muddle by in his absence. I'll briefly recap the past day's events... baseball practice, sport conditioning, park, doctor's appointments, crayola bath time and one sick little munchkin.

Dalton hit a 320-yard home run this time last week... and he's still on cloud nine about it! Dalton has one remaining baseball tournament left... so practice #1 for this week was tonight, with #2 coming up Thursday or Friday. I never realized how much I appreciate Tony's willingness to make these short drop-offs so we don't have to load and unload the girls in the car.

Emmalie had her 5-yr check up today. She is a perfect square! Seriously... she weighed in at a mild 43 3/4 lbs and is standing 43 3/4 inches tall. (What are the chances of that happening?!). As part of the cognitive development exam, the doctor did the routine "Can you skip?" and "What is the opposite of day?" questioning. However, this time she asked Emmalie a new question.... "Emmalie, what does a fence do?" Emmalie just stared at the doctor with a strange look on her face as if saying to herself 'is this woman serious!'... but soon Emmalie smiled and said simply (with attitude of course)... "A fence?! A fence just stays put. It doesn't DO anything!". With that I cowered into the corner.... ;/

Bethanie is doing great! We can now travel without any diaper or nap bags. She has gone for weeks without having an accident at daycare... and is waking up dry every morning. However, with this comes the frequent trips to bathrooms whenever we're out of the house. (I secretly think Bethie, like Emma did, likes to visit every bathroom in town!). Bethanie is talking so clear and picking up new phrases every day. Her newest obsession is lip gloss and headbands. She's such a "girly girl"!

Devin finished another 150+ page screenplay Monday to send for copyrighting. He insisted that I hear about the concluding scene. It has such a sad ending that I'm afraid to read the middle section for fear that I'll be in tears through to the end. I must say, Devin does have a very creative side to him and his writing style is excellent. He came up today and said he may double-major in college so he can choose to be an English Comp teacher or a media production specialist. So much for Tony and I saving money... Dev may still be in college when Emmalie gets there:) (JK)

Emmalie has had a 24-hour stomach bug that went around the house over the weekend. (I knew she'd hold off until her Daddy left to give me one more thing to focus on!). She is doing better now... and slept enough to be wide awake too!

I have some fun things planned to make it through the week with the kids (and Fallon). I hope we get to do them all :)
